Description - The Company: Ubiqus Ireland is the Irish subsidiary of the French-owned Ubiqus Group - a provider of Language Services - as well as other business services.
Our Irish Translation Production Department - based in Waterford City - is responsible for Project Managing all aspects of each translation project – from the initial scoping of each client request, liaising with the sales teams to give accurate word counts, costs, and best turnaround times, to assigning the work to the most suitable translators, quality-checking the completed translations, and sending the translated documents to our clients.
We are offering the opportunity of an internship at Ubiqus Ireland to candidates with a strong interest in the translation industry.
The role will offer the chance to gain valuable experience in a commercial setting, where the intern will work with an experienced team of Project Managers and Quality-Control specialists.
Ubiqus will provide training in the day-to-day operations of a Language Service Provider, and you will then work as part of the team, assisting the Project Managers and Quality-Control/Delivery team.
During the internship, the intern will work principally with either the Project Managers OR the Quality-Control / Document Delivery team.
We see the role as being ideally suited to graduates of Translation/Language-related disciplines.
You will ideally have had some training in the use of CAT tools such as Trados Studio 2014.
As the role will involve daily face-to-face, telephone, and email communication, with production colleagues, translators, and sales teams, this will suit candidates with excellent spoken and written communication skills, who have a good understanding of the commercial implications of their work.
Strong computer literacy is essential, along with the ability to work well as part of a team, but also the drive to work on your own initiative.
As a large portion of our work involves communicating with native French speakers, we are looking for candidates who are fluent in English and French.
The role will involve working Monday to Friday, up to 40 hours per week.
The duration of the internship is for a minimum of 4 months, but ideally for 6 months for the right candidates.
The role is initially unpaid, but we are happy to make contributions – in the form of token wage/expense payments – for candidates who require rental accommodation and other living-away-from-home expenses.
The value of these contributions towards expenses will be in the region of €100 per week.
We will also increase these contributions for internships that last beyond an initial 3-month period.
Internships are available year-round and we currently have immediate availability.
How to apply:
Please send your CV and a covering letter specifying your preferred starting date, and the duration of time that you are available.
